This article JUST came out from the National Institutes of Health on gut health and the immune system. It explains that the gut trains the immune system to protect the brain. The professional reference is in the article as well.
This article from the National Institutes of Health helps explain in detail why gut health is imperative. In this study, it was shown that the gut or “GI tract” helps train the immune system to protect the brain. In PANS and PANDAS, the immune system, instead of protecting the brain, actually attacks it. Many of the children we see also have digestive issues like constipation, diarrhea, abdominal pain and bloating, food intolerances, or allergies.
We focus on healing the gut to help heal the immune system and stop the autoimmune attack. Many of the brain chemicals that help us think, feel, or have emotions, are produced in the intestinal wall. Supporting the gut membrane is an important part of our Fully Functional® “Support” pillar.
